This Week’s Valley Café featured a Middle Eastern Menu with dishes,
inspired by Indian culture.
Indian Cuisine is great because it incorporates so many flavors and spices, along with a variety of vegetables, which make it very healthy! This week’s menu offered a lot of nutritious options, with Vegetarian and Gluten Free dishes being the stars of the show. For starters, there was a Hearty Tomato Vegetable Soup, and Colorful Chick Pea salad. The main dishes included Chicken 65, Vegetable Curry, and Authentic Aloo Palak and Vegetable Biryani, which are popular native dishes of India.
Everything looked so delicious, that I had trouble keeping it to one plate!
To finish off, a Yogurt Sundae full of fresh fruits and traditional Dundee Cake were for Dessert. The Dundee Cake was a decadent sweet end to the Indian feast, made of fruit and nuts with a zest of Citrus Flavor. Yum!
Overall, a Taste of India seemed to be a huge hit.
As usual, Marist Valley Café uses locally grown fruits and vegetables, providing students with the fresh and seasonal produce from the Hudson Valley. See you next week at the Valley Café!
